Patek Philippe - 1930s Patek Philippe ref. 96 in Steel w/ Extract
An extremely fine example of the Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 96 in steel, this marvelously preserved early series specimen dates to 1935 as confirmed by the extract from the archives, sporting the now classic dauphine hands, flat polished and applied indices, sub-seconds and a very rare enamel filled
"chemin de fer" minute track in place of the much more common pearling.
Its 31.5mm steel Francois Borgel crafted case is even and thick, with broad brushed lugs, flat polished bezel and even contact from its lightly domed caseback with barely any evidence of abusive opening or obvious polishing. It's manually wound Patek caliber is running well, as powered by the era correct and presumably original unsigned crown. Paired on its period correct PPco steel buckle.
This example is not to be missed. It's the quintessential configuration of a classic design that has endured for nearly 100 years.
