Omega - 1949 Omega Chronograph Argentinian Air Force Issued | Ref. CK2451 | With Extract From The Archives

This exceptional timepiece stands out as a rare gem, known as reference CK2451, and specially crafted for the Argentinian military Air Force. Its military-style dial features luminescent Arabic numerals and bears the emblem of the Argentinian Air Force etched onto the case back. A must-have for collectors of rare and historical timepieces, it boasts a unique history. Interestingly, the dial was originally black colored; however, research suggests that some examples may have missed the usual clear coat application during production, resulting in the gradual fading of the black paint due to Radium exposure.
Locating this Omega chronograph proves to be quite a challenge, given its exclusive production for the Argentinian Air Force, as evidenced by the emblem engraved on its back. Military timepieces hold unparalleled historical significance, and this watch is no exception. Unlike the civilian version of this model, which was never manufactured, most of the military editions were distributed to the Hungarian and Polish Air Forces. Hence, this particular version from Argentina stands as one of the rarest examples obtainable.

As per the Omega extract from the Archives, this timepiece was issued to the Argentinean Air Force on March 8th, 1949, and bears the emblem of ¨Fuerza Aérea Argentina¨on its case back.
