Omega - 1954 Omega Automatic Seamaster 'Gold Cap' (Ref. 14363-1 SC) Black Dial W/ Breguet Numerals & Horned-Lug Case

1954 Omega Automatic Seamaster 'Gold Cap' (Ref. 14363-1 SC) Black Dial W/ Breguet Numerals & Horned-Lug Case

The Speedmaster might be the watch that made Omega a household name (and took it to the moon), but the Seamaster has been around quite a bit longer and has its own incredible legacy worth talking about.

First released in 1948 in celebration of Omega’s centennial anniversary, the Seamaster became a worldwide success and was the brand’s top seller for a long time. Today, it’s the longest-running name in the Omega catalog and still holds a special place in plenty of collectors’ hearts.

This ref. 14363-1 SC is a fantastic example of how well-rounded the Seamaster is, and how diverse the designs within this marque can be. While many of them feature more traditional case and lug styles, this one bucks the trend with distinctive "bullhorn" lugs that are not only striking but also incredibly comfortable on the wrist. When paired with those incredible lugs, the 34.5mm yellow gold-capped case and rich black dial with gilt accents give off elegant, timeless vibes that could be dressed up or dressed down and look damn good either way.

The excellent yellow gold-capped case features fantastic "bullhorn" lugs and shows minor evidence of previous polishing and gentle signs of use. It retains its original yellow gold Omega-signed crown. The caseback shows light signs of wear commensurate with its age, and the Seamaster engraving has lightened over time. The watch will be supplied on a handmade two-piece leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The rich black dial is in immaculate condition, showing no damage or age to the naked eye. The gilt Breguet numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, along with the gilt hour markers in between, are all in excellent condition. The lume plots corresponding to the Breguet numerals have aged to varying shades of a dark cream color, and the gilt, lume-filled hands match the dial perfectly.
