Universal Geneve - 1966 Universal Genève Space-Compax Mark 1 | Ref. 885104/01 | Unpolished

The Universal Genève Space-Compax ref. 885104/01 Mark 1 is a tool watch cloaked in mystery. Engineered for resilience and clarity, its design hints at a mission beyond Earth, perhaps even a contender to succeed the Omega Speedmaster as NASA’s official chronograph during the height of the Space Race. Though never confirmed, that theory lingers. What is certain is its aesthetic brilliance: the striking reverse panda dial, bold large number 12, and an asymmetric case, possibly a quiet stroke from Genta himself, all radiate intent and charisma.

Beating within is the steadfast Valjoux 72, paired with rubber-clad pushers engineered for superior water resistance. This elusive early example, known as the Mark 1, dates to early 1966, just months before the Space-Compax was officially unveiled. With design echoes of the Polerouter Sub, it stands as the most desirable reference of the line: a captivating enigma crafted for the unknown.

Preserved in untouched, all-original condition, complete with its signed plexiglass and iconic Gay Frères bracelet, it ranks among the finest Space-Compax specimens ever to surface.
