Rolex - 1967 Rolex Tropical Gilt "Coffee Bean" Dial | Oyster Perpetual Ref. 1007

As time passes, finding exquisite timepieces has become a rare and precious journey. The quest for both beautiful and rare watches has grown ever more challenging, making each discovery a cherished treasure.

A Rolex tropical dial refers to a watch dial that has discolored due to sun exposure and minor manufacturing flaws. Ironically, the discoloration resulted from a special paint finish used around the mid-20th century, intended to make the surface UV-resistant. Instead, under certain conditions, sunlight, heat, humidity, and slight curing process errors caused a chemical reaction that led to this unique patina.

Gilt Dial:

To some collectors, a "true" gilt dial is characterized by a meticulous process that reveals the underlying metal of the dial in negative relief. This technique often results in golden text and markers, as it exposes the blank brass beneath the dial's surface. However, it can also reveal other materials, such as yellow or white gold, silver, or another layer applied to the base. Therefore, a "true" gilt refers not to the gold color, but to the specific manufacturing process used.
