Rolex - 1968 Rolex 1500 Tropical “Purple Rainbow” Oyster Perpetual Date

Description: This tropical dial started life off as a simple blue dial. The magic of chasing after these tropical dials is the slow process of transformation that these dials take to get to their current state. 56 years later and what we have in front of us is more similar to an aged whisky sitting in a sherry cask than a mechanical watch. For those that have collected these type of dials, this one is the first one I have seen as crazy as this. The left side of the watch has aged from a blue iridescent color and fades more to a tropical brown on the right. Case size is 34mm.
