Rolex - 1977 ref. 1601 Silver w/ Black Paint Dial Datejust

The silver dial’s are the most common of the 160X series of Datejusts. However, not many people know there are very many different types of silver dials. Some are circularly brushed, others vertically. Some have wide indices, others skinny stick or claw markers. In this 1601, the dial markers are black paint, which contrasts uniquely on this type of dial. Lume plots are stunningly yellow as well. Case is very very fat and sharp and appears near unpolished. The bracelet is a newer Jubilee and matches the aesthetic of the white gold fluted bezel. The early four digit Datejusts also have a unique dial that is called a pie-pan dial. These have a step towards the outer edge and give the watch tremendous depth. This one is a 10/10.
