Rolex - 1980 Rolex 1665 Mk. IV “Great White” Sea-Dweller
Made for, and designed by, the sea floor. Differences between DSRDs and Great Whites are not found in technology or capability, in case dimensions or material, but only in color. And that difference, while seemingly minute, creates great discrepancy in value; Double-Reds are nearly twice the cost for, realistically, the same watch. These ‘Great Whites’ are seemingly great value.
This 1665 Mk. IV is in excellent condition, whose previous polish remains bright and even throughout. The Mk. IV ‘Small R’ dial remains untouched, its lume turned a soft orange. The once black bezel has morphed into a dark grey, adding a touch of character to an otherwise wonderful example.
Case: 40mm unpolished steel
Insert: Faded dark-blue-grey
Dial: Soft matte unscathed black, soft yellow lume
Bracelet: Oyster, excellent condition
