1984 Rolex Sea-Dweller (Ref. 16660) "Spider" Dial W/ Full Set

Similar to the other Rolex sport models that were released in the early 80s, the Sea-Dweller "Triple Six" is a very transitional model that we split into two categories depending on the time of production and the dial variation utilized. Early ref. 16660 models from 1981 to 1984 will feature a matte black dial similar to Rolex sport models of the 70s; however, in late 1984, Rolex updated the dial design to a glossy black finish with white gold surround markers, which is still in use today.

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent case retains full and symmetrical lugs that retain slight chamfers, exhibit minimal evidence of being previously polished, and show honest signs of use. The original bezel insert is in exceptional condition, showing nominal elements of previous wear, and retains its tritium pearl, which features a deep caramel patina. The case back shows gentle wear and retains the factory engravings in deep and crisp condition. The original Rolex 93160 Oyster bracelet with solid 592 end pieces retains 11 links along with the integrated diver's extension and will fit up to a 7 1/2 inch wrist, with light stretch present.

DIAL & HANDS

The original and beautifully preserved glossy black dial with white gold surround markers features an attractive and sought-after "spider web" patina that adds to the overall vintage charm and aesthetic of the watch. The tritium lume plots have developed a vibrant creamy patina and exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly; under UV light inspection, the hour hand displays some superficial surface cracking, though no lume loss is present, and the minutes and seconds hands remain in perfect condition. The white date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.

ACCESSORIES

The watch is a complete set with its original inner and outer boxes, Rolex guarantee paper, Rolex service booklet, green leather Rolex wallet, Rolex anchor, and cardboard document pouch. The watch is keeping time, though the service history is unknown. A movement service can be purchased upon request.
