Description: This 16550 is the first Explorer II to be housed with a sapphire crystal. It also uses the 3175 movement shared with the 16760 fat lady GMT. What makes the 16550 so interesting is that the number markers on the bezel are much more bold and pronounced than its later 16570 counterpart. Are we splitting hairs here? Likely, but that is the exact reason why we collect vintage watches. The dial has a very beautiful yellow patina with matching hands. Watch case appears unpolished with original bevels still present.
