1990 Rolex Explorer II (Ref. 16570) Black Dial

The Rolex Explorer II ref. 16570 was introduced in 1989, directly succeeding the transitional ref. 16550 with some subtle cosmetic and internal upgrades. The Rolex Explorer II ref. 16570 employs the updated and robust cal. 3185 jumping hour movement, and the bezel font was slightly modified from the previous reference.

CASE & BRACELET

The strong case retains its factory chamfers on the very thick, symmetrical lugs that show honest signs of light use with minimal evidence of being previously polished. The original fixed 24-hour stainless steel bezel is in excellent condition, showing gentle signs of use with minimal loss of the factory black enamel. The original Rolex 78360 Oyster bracelet with 501B end pieces retains 11 links that show nominal stretch and will fit up to a 7-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The original glossy black dial with white gold surround markers is in flawless condition, with no age or damage present. The tritium lume plots remain bright with a light eggshell color and exhibit no degradation when inspected under UV light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly, under UV light inspection the lume of the hour hand exhibits some very minor cracking and remains stable, while the lume in the other hands exhibit no degradation.

ACCESSORIES

None. The watch is keeping time, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be provided upon request.
