Tudor - 1994 Vintage Tudor Big Block Ref. 79160 Full Complete Set

The Vintage Tudor Big Block Reference 79160 is a highly collectible chronograph that showcases Tudor's enduring craftsmanship and distinctive design. Produced in the 1980s, this model holds the distinction of being Tudor's first automatic chronograph. It features a robust 40mm stainless steel case with a bold, utilitarian aesthetic. The "Big Block" nickname arises from the watch's thicker profile, necessitated by the Valjoux 7750 automatic movement housed within—a reliable and respected caliber in horology.

The watch’s black bakelite tachymeter bezel enhances its sporty appearance, while the silver dial with contrasting black sub-dials provides excellent readability, embodying a classic "panda" style depending on the variant. The chronograph functions include a central seconds hand, a 30-minute counter, and a 12-hour counter, ensuring its practicality for timekeeping tasks. A date window at the 3 o’clock position adds to its everyday usability.

Beloved for its association with Tudor’s Rolex heritage and its blend of vintage charm and mechanical prowess, the Tudor Big Block 79160 is a sought-after piece for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Whether worn or displayed, it stands as a testament to Tudor's contribution to the evolution of sports chronographs.
