Only a handful of these are known to exist, each an example of Daniel Roth’s genius. Roth, the maestro, who learned at the altar of Breguet’s resurrection before forging his own path; was one of the founding fathers of independent watchmaking.

The Ref 2187 double faced, skeleton tourbillon is his magnum opus; skeletonised and laid open like a sacred text, every bridge and wheel carved by Roth’s own hands as though he were etching prayers into metal.

To wear it is to touch the very essence of Roth, to witness a moment where time has become timeless. As LVMH stirs the embers of Roth’s legacy, the world is awakening to what a select few; myself included, have always known: vintage Roth is the absolute pinnacle of haute horology.

In my personal collection, the platinum version of this skeleton tourbillon already gleams like a moonlit cathedral, Roth’s hand-skeletonised chronograph holds its own and his ode to the perpetual together with the legendary Phillips Dufour takes pride of place.

So this masterpiece must journey onward, to ignite the same reverence in another soul as it did in mine.
