Rolex - 2009 Rolex 116520 Daytona Black Dial Rehaut Unpolished Complete Set
For sale is an unpolished near mint condition 40mm stainless steel Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. The M379,xxx serial 116520 was originally retailed in May of 2009 and is accompanied by all of its original boxes and papers. Included in the box and papers set are: inner and outer boxes, the dated international guarantee card, a serialized hang tag, two instruction manuals, a green manual holder, a green hologram hang tag, an extra bracelet link, and a plastic bezel protector.
The Daytona features a polished steel case with a fixed steel tachymeter bezel, engraved with black enamel-filled units. The Rolex is mounted on its original 78490 steel Oyster bracelet, which is stamped with an “EO12” clasp code corresponding to a production date of December 2007. The 78490 bracelet contains all of its original links with 12 full size links and 6 screw links, with four of them being removable. The Daytona features a black dial with applied white gold-surround Luminova coated hour markers, polished white gold Luminova-coated hands, and white gold surround sub dial registers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The movement used in the 116520 is the Rolex Caliber 4130, which features approximately 72 hours of power reserve, and is running flawlessly.
Condition:
The case is unpolished with its tachymeter bezel retaining crisp engraved units with dark black enamel, the only signs of previous wear are some faint surface level hairlines on its high polish accents. The 78490 Oyster bracelet is also unpolished with no noticeable stretch, containing only a few light hairlines on its high polish center links. This Daytona was actually sold 2 years ago in NOS condition by yours truly, with most of its stickers still attached, to a collector who has now traded it back. While it does not retain any of its stickers, the watch was carefully worn by its previous owner, and has been preserved exceptionally well.
Overall, the Daytona is a wonderful example of a late-production “old clasp” reference 116520, produced just before the 78490 (old-style clasp) bracelet was replaced with the updated 78590 (new-style clasp) in mid 2009.
