Longines - 70’s Longines Full Set
Manufactured in the early 70’s in a brutalist style, this piece is of exaggerated proportions with the dial/case measuring 22x38mm (without crown).
The elongated case is curved, with the link style integrated bracelet it allows the piece to wrap around the wrist comfortably.
The bracelet, unlike most integrated precious metal bracelets of the time, features removable links (of which 4 extras are included in the set). Currently wearing around 7.5” with the addition of the extra links it would conceivably fit close to an 8” wrist.
The sterling case and bracelet were produced by Baume & Co. known for their collaborations with Longines throughout the early and mid 20th century. The case and clasp are both hallmarked with British assay stamps and makers marks.
These British marks are backed up by the booklet, indicating it was sold in Birmingham in 1974, just 2 days before Christmas!
