Audemars Piguet - Audemars Piguet “Platinum Japan-Market” Ultra Thin
Up for grabs is an extremely rare Audemars Piguet Ultra-Thin dresswatch, circa 1960, produced in platinum. Interestingly, and as confirmed by Audemars Piguet in a Certificate of Authenticity, this watch was assembled in Japan, with the dial and movement delivered by Audemars Piguet to their local retailer in 1960. This was likely done due to export restriction on precious metals at the time, and has been seen in other brands, such as IWC. The watch is powered by a caliber 2002 movement, which produced by LeCoultre at the time.
This rare Audemars Piguet Ultra-Thin is in great vintage condition. The contract platinum case is in excellent condition, remaining unpolished with light wear from use, and retains its original serial (noted in the AP Certificate), and hallmarks visible inside the caseback. Further, the original silver dial with applied indices remains very well-preserved, with minimal aging.
