Audemars Piguet - Audemars Piguet Starwheel 25720BA
While the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is often seen as the brand's most iconic piece, AP has also pioneered key horological innovations, such as the first perpetual calendar wristwatch with a leap year indicator, minute repeater, skeleton watch, and wandering hours wristwatch.
Inspired by the 17th-century Night Clock created for Pope Alexander XII by the Campani brothers, Audemars Piguet introduced the Star Wheel in 1991. This features three rotating sapphire discs that pass over a fixed minute scale, with the wearer reading the time by tracking the hour disc.
The star wheel was produced only in precious metals and in extremely limited quantities between 1991 and 2003. It was released in several dial variations, with this model showcasing the most classic design: a beautiful guilloché pattern on the 18k yellow gold dial.
This 25720BA model comes in 18k yellow gold, with a 36mm, double-stepped case and downturned lugs. At just 9mm thick, it’s powered by the Audemars Piguet Caliber 2224 automatic movement. Available now.
