Boucheron - Boucheron Reflet | Rare 1st Generation | Clous de Paris Hobnail
Founded in 1858 by Frédéric Boucheron, this legendary Parisian jeweller offered a unique blend of Art Nouveau / Art Deco design to the well-heeled across much of Europe and Asia. European tastes of the 1950s and 1960s prioritised innovation over embellishments and this is where Boucheron excelled; inventing and patenting three clasp systems that have never been seen before.
Integrating the clasp with the case, this iconic 1st generation Boucheron Reflet is of a quality that can match or even exceed the very best of its competitors. Our obvious reference here is Cartier. Whilst Cartier’s escalating popularity shows no sign of abating, we feel that Boucheron offers an equally investable proposition considering the much lower production numbers, similar heritage and artisanal hand finishing.
In fact, Boucheron did not even manufacture its own movements, instead relying exclusively on a few suppliers including Ulysse Nardin and Omega. Cases were manufactured in France by suppliers such as Cristofol, who also manufactured for Cartier.
One of the most desired and investable Boucheron models, this “Clous de Paris” or “Paris Hobnail” version from the 1950-1960 period is in unpolished condition and the original generation as can be seen from the lack of branding on the dial.
