Breguet - Breguet Classique Chronograph Ref 3237BA
This particular early A serial example is made more distinctive and unique due to its heavily patinated case on the crown side, found in several other examples from a similar serial range, providing a charming warmth and character that can’t be imitated.
Case: the 36mm solid gold case measures 44mm lug to lug and 10mm thick with 18mm lug width. The case is in overall very nice condition, believed to be unpolished, retaining all original lines and finishing. Light surface swirls are present on the bezel and lugs, consistent with light wear for the age. The crown and pusher side of the case exhibits surface patina or oxidation of a dark blue, purple, oil or gas slick tie dye effect.
Dial: the hand guilloche dial features radially brushed metallic hour, minutes, and subregister tracks, the traditional clos de Paris guilloche pattern throughout and a wavy pattern in the subregisters. The dial and hands are clean and free from defect.
Movement: the Breguet caliber 533 is a modified Lemania 2310 with cotes de Geneve finishing, a swan’s neck regulator, and Breguet overcoil hairspring. The infamous movement shared with the likes of Patek and Vacheron chronographs is winding very crisp and setting smoothly. The chronograph functions properly with excellent feel and reset.
Includes: original signed croc strap and gold buckle with clear and sharp hallmarks.
Breguet has confirmed this watch was produced in 1989 and sold to Caldex (Milano, Italy) in March of 1989.
