Caravelle/Bulova - Caravelle "666 Ft. Devil Diver" w/ 11dp Movement
A sister company to Bulova, Caravelle produced affordable, yet reliable watches that have developed a strong collector following today. Rather than sourcing movements from Switzerland, they were able to cut costs by producing their movements in Japan. The 11DP is perhaps the best known example and offered a very simple, easy to service and robust solution for their highly-successful line of American timepieces.
Collectors affectionately refer to some Caravelle and Bulova pieces as "Devil Divers," given their depth rating of 666 ft. notated on their dials. Such is the case with this Caravelle which features a 36mm cushion case and rotating aluminum bezel. We love the contrasting pop of the orange seconds hand which can be paired up to a colorful NATO-style strap in summer months. For anyone looking for a reliable and charming vintage diver that won't break the bank, this example has remained in excellent vintage condition.
