Cartier - Cartier CPCP Tank à Vis Etanche | Platinum | Full Set | Ref 2485
After the quartz crisis of the 1990s, Cartier returned to its roots as collectors started discovering mechanical timepieces once again. From 1998 to 2008, the maison unearthed masterpieces from its vast archives, with a view to showcase their mastery over horology.
Launched in extremely limited numbers; often just 50 or 100 in each series, Cartier released beautifully-finished mechanical calibres of the highest quality, collaborating with manufacturers such as Piaget, THA (led by the illustrious FP Journe) and Renaud & Papi, who were then owned by Audemars Piguet and who later incepted Richard Mille.
With its arched bezel with four platinum screws that hermetically seal the case, the Cartier Tank à Vis 2485 CPCP is one of the most refined examples from the range - classic, rare, time only and in platinum.
The case is 27 mm x 39 mm and just 8mm thin; elegant yet modern. Polished on the bezel and the down to the base of each lug with brushed sides and a closed back, the watch includes a 'water resistant' engraving in keeping with its rich history. As with its all CPCP models, the dial is incredible: solid 18k white gold with hand-engraved rosette guilloché, inspired by Cartier’s vintage clocks.
The signature Roman numerals and chemin de fer (railroad track) are present as are all the other classic design elements from the blued sword hands to the complement the sapphire cabochon inset in the platinum crown.
Presented here in unpolished condition and as a rare full set, this is the CPCP to have if you must have just one.
