Cartier - Cartier Tank Louis Ref. 96065
The Cartier Tank Louis is one of the most iconic and enduring dress watches in horology. Introduced in 1922 as a refined evolution of the original Cartier Tank (1917), it was named after Louis Cartier, whose vision for elegance and proportion shaped its design. Over the decades, the Tank Louis has been worn by legendary figures such as Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy, and Yves Saint Laurent, reinforcing its status as a timeless symbol of sophistication.
The Cartier Tank Louis follows the Art Deco principles that define the Tank collection, with clean lines, classic proportions, and subtle luxury.
During the late 80s, Cartier replaced the 78086 with the ref 96065, swapping the ETA movement for with the ultra thin, manual winding Frederic Piguet Caliber 21 (FP21). The reference, also called the extra plat (extra flat) because the use of the thin FP caliber allowed the case to be even slimmer. The enamel dials of previous models were replaced with Cartier’s now-iconic guilloché dial, a design that later became a hallmark of the Cartier Collection Privée Paris (CPCP) era.
The extra plat 96065 is available with its original strap and buckle.
