Cartier - Cartier Tank Louis Ref. 78086

The Cartier Tank Louis is one of the most iconic and enduring dress watches in horology. Introduced in 1922 as a refined evolution of the original Cartier Tank (1917), it was named after Louis Cartier, whose vision for elegance and proportion shaped its design. Over the decades, the Tank Louis has been worn by legendary figures such as Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy, and Yves Saint Laurent, reinforcing its status as a timeless symbol of sophistication.

Released in the 70s as part of the “Louis Cartier Collection”, the Tank Louis Ref. 78086 stands out as probably the most iconic and prominent model. Powered by the manual winding Cartier Caliber 78-1, the 78086 was produced from the 70s to the 80s and has three dial types. This example features a Mark 2 dial, defined by a pointy “A” in Cartier and no hidden signature. The white lacquer dial is pristine, free from cracks or blemishes.

The 78086 comes in a full set, with box and papers.
