Chaumet - Chaumet Paris 18k WG Jump Hour 30mm Quartz ref.11A from 1990

For more than 240 years, Chaumet has dedicated its jewelry excellence to the creation of exceptional watches. The Maison knows how to combine the best Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship, tradition, and complex movements with the refined Parisian style that it masters so well. Precise and precious, these watch creations have become true icons.

Jump Hour watches have always fascinated the eye of the viewer since the beginning of watchmaking times, this complex mechanical invention was first seen in 1883 when the Austrian engineer Josef Pallweber presented the first patent for a jumping hour movement in a pocket watch. Before this, the only example of a Jump Hour movement in recorded history was created by the French watchmaker Blondeau for Louis Philippe I, the king of France, at the beginning of his reign.

Over the last century, several brands have intended to create their own version of the Jump Hour watch, some of the collectors' favorites include the Cartier Tank A Guichet, Audemars Piguet Star Wheel, and Patek Philippe 3969, etc. However, the design of this beautiful Chaumet is far from all the aforementioned iterations, the sharp Disco Volante case and pointed crown give the watch a very futuristic look but with a charming and ancient personality.
