De Bethune - DB8 Number 1 serviced
While today's models are boldly avant-garde in design, the company's early models were more traditional and conventional. As early as 2002, 5 models, from DB1 to DB5, were introduced with particularly classic design elements such as Breguet hands, guilloché dial and Roman numerals. A particularly interesting element is the pronounced shape of the "bullet" lugs, a distinctive feature of De Bethune cases.
The DB8 model we have here is fully in keeping with this tradition. Made in 2003 in just 21 pieces in pink and yellow gold, this watch bears the unique number 001 making this particular example the first of the DB8 series.
The DB8 is a direct evolution of the first De Bethune model, the DB1, introduced in 2002. This evolution sees the seconds counter disappear and the minute totalizer move to 6 o'clock, giving the watch a dressy, classic look that differs from traditional chronograph designs.
