Cartier - Rare 1960s Cartier EWC Tank Allongée | Original Cartier Bracelet | Paris Dial
This watch, a relic of the 1960s, is a unicorn, adorned with an original 18k gold Cartier brick bracelet. Rare Breguet style hands dance across the dial with the inscription BTE S.G.D.G; a French patent that has long since faded into obscurity.
This is said to be impossible to find, a ghost of craftsmanship that has eluded even the most distinguished collectors. There is only one other similar watch ever seen, currently owned by one of the world’s greatest collectors, but with the unique hands and original Cartier brick bracelet, ours is in much better condition and far rarer.
Watches like this sing. They speak of artistry and rarity, of moments frozen in time. They belong in the light and not in the shadows.
And so here it is; a masterpiece with its EWC movement and JLC ebauche. Although EWC itself ended in the 1950s, watches with stock movements were sold through the 1960s. Such watches, including just a handful with rectangular cases, are extremely rare. We have also occasionally seen Cartier watches from the 1920s to 1930s with the S.G.D.G inscription, but almost never seen it on watches from this era.
One of the rarest and most elusive Cartier Tank Allongée watches in all original and excellent condition. Impossible to find and possibly unique. Perhaps a reason why some of you now call me the Cartierist!
