Other - Gallet Flying Officer Worldtime MK3

Here is an important timepiece in the pilot watch history. This is the Flying Officer world time made by Gallet. It was then the first breveted watch with a timezone cities scale on the dial.

The Flying officer was produced upon specific request by Harry S. Truman for the United States Army Air Force during the 2nd world war.
Truman was a personal friend of Leon Gallet, he contributed personally to its design and he was known wearing himself one these chronographs during his life.

While the 2 earlier versions were 34.5mm, this 3rd and last iteration was granted a bigger 37mm case with a screwed down case back.

Among the many variations, the leaf hands version is for me the most appealing. With its champagne 2 tones dial, the red cities chapter ring echoes delicately with the red central Chrono hand.

Last and not least, this military version has a sterile dial with no name but the brevet reference at the center. So many tiny details and refinements that make this watch rare and sought after.
