Brief summary:
The name “Gerald Genta” should be no stranger to most today in the collecting circle/watch industry. Known as the “Picasso of watches” and one of the most important watch designers in history, responsible for making unparalleled contributions to fine watchmaking, designing several legendary timepieces, most notably the Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet, the Nautilus for Patek Philippe, the Ingenieur for IWC, the Pasha for Cartier and many more!

All of these great watches and more bear the names of other brands, and while many consider those models by Genta among the most important creations in the history of watch design, they were not 100% Genta.
For that he struck out on his own even before the tide was turning away from the quartz crisis, building a brand bearing his name where he experimented with designs, textures, materials, and complications. He created his eponymous brand in 1969, creating many incredible icons and unique designs under his very own name.

Today this example offered is an underrated and highly rare reference not seen in the market from public research so far, apart from a yellow-gold sand blasted example featured on the Official Gerald Genta (@geraldgentaofficial) Instagram page, and we believe also offers tremendous value to Genta collectors today!

This unique reference G.3504.7 features a GMT function located at the 9 o’clock position with an adjustment button at the side of the case. The watch also has a date complication that’s located at the 3 o’clock position and can be adjusted via its pusher located at 2 o’clock.

Though this Genta does not feature its iconic octagonal case design, the watch still retains Maestro Gerald Genta’s signature cues, such as the Genta winding crown, the unconventional lug design and of course the Genta integrated Bead-of-Rice Bracelet, with this example in stainless steel.

The watch is encased in stainless-steel sized elegantly at 34mm but wears slightly larger thanks to its unique lug design.

Behind the solid caseback reveals a Gerald Genta signed and decorated Jaeger Cal.889/1 automatic movement.

Gerald Genta’s true/early timepieces are not just collectible watches, but dare we say, important and unique pieces of historical art on the wrist. His watches truly were like no other and exude such quality that simply cannot be ignored.
This rare and unique Steel GMT example is in our opinion the perfect addition for someone not only looking to add a complication Gerald Genta on a budget, but also a great addition for those looking for a more “tame” Complication Genta!
