Girard-Perregaux - Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic w/ Bracelet/Quickset

Still often overlooked, Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest fine Swiss watchmakers, having been founded in 1791. The brand is credited with many important horological developments, notably with the creation of the Gyromatic which were first introduced n the 1950s. The Gyromatic line was notable for its use of a new type of automatic movement. It featured a high-frequency balance that oscillated at 36,000 beats per hour, which was significantly higher than the standard frequency of 18,000 beats per hour at the time, allowing for more accuracy than other watches of the era.

This example is a very charming piece on wrist but also makes for a great addition for those who appreciates the unusual. The silver sunburst dial is non-luminous and features beautiful enamel in the markers to match the hands. The quickset date is a welcome and practical feature. On the bracelet the watch has a futuristic, and all the while retro feel.
