The Gruen Ocean Chief could be the US answer to the Breitling Super Ocean. In fact, apart from the stadium bezel they have in common, they are actually very different from each other. The Gruen has is own personality, with a unique dial and snake head hand set design.
The case assembly is also very original, this is probably the only diver where the bezel is larger than the case. Perfectly proportioned at 39mm, the thin straight lugs give to the watch a very elegant feel and touch.

This early Mk1 example is in very good condition for it’s age. The dial has nicely turned tropical, the concave bezel has also gracefully faded into a grey color. The hands have a clean vanilla lume, matching nicely with the index and the dial.

A very elegant and eclectic watch, a must have in any serious diver collection.
