Shown here is a Gruen Veri-Thin pocket watch in a funky 10k Gold Filled Pentagon shaped case.

Gruen made these pentagon watches in solid gold as well as the gold plated cases such as this one, with either round dials or pentagonal ones like this example.

Something about the continuity through the pentagonal case, bezel, crystal, dial and sub-seconds track really drew my eye to this piece. The breguet hands and applied numerals really tie the dial together bringing a simple sophistication to a rather funky design.

This piece is cased in a 10k Gold Filled Wadsworth case, likely from the late 30's to early 40's and runs on a Gruen 17 jewel Veri-Thin movement.

It is running strong, although the service history is unknown.
