Other - Habring2 36mm Pilot for Shellman Ginza
A truly rare early era Shellman Ginza offering and one of the very few 36mm Habring’s made.
I’ve always appreciated the quirky aesthetic and ingenuity of Habring watches but always found them to be too big at the typical 40-42mm sizing, and their “small” offerings at 38.5mm. This watch fixes all that and in a super limited edition sold exclusively through Shellman Ginza.
Case: The 36 × 44 × 10.8 mm stainless steel case is satin brushed throughout in a very similar shape and manner to the (excellent) IWC pilot’s watches of the 1990’s. The case is free from any notable scratches or dents and wears very well. I particularly like the shape and feel of the large crown.
Dial: I’m not sure it gets much cleaner than this, what a great aesthetic and balance of function, form, and restraint. Less is truly more here, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring. The applied hour markers and Arabic 12 and 6 add a bit more pop and are also subtly lumed for a rich, high-quality, and functional aesthetic.
Movement: In traditional Habring fashion, the movement is ETA / Valjoux 7750 based with nice finishing throughout and running very well at an average of +1.5 s/d across 6 positions. Service history is unknown.
Includes: The original wooden box, the original NATO strap, signed croc strap, generic black leather strap with generic butterfly clasp, and generic straight end link bracelet with butterfly clasp, booklet, and papers from Shellman Ginza.
