Other - Hermes Croisiere Two Tone Manual Tank

Worth A Read

These early Croisiere models are very rare and not easy to come by. While the later quartz ones are much easier to find, these early examples are worth the hunt. Featuring a nice case size and manual movement, it's a classic dress watch with an Hermes twist.
The Brand - Though Hermès was founded in 1837 as a harness and saddle maker, its foray into watchmaking began in 1912, when Emile Hermès created a leather strap watch for his daughter. This laid the foundation for the maison’s unique blend of leather craftsmanship and horology.
In the 1920s, Hermès began selling timepieces from Swiss manufacturers like Jaeger-LeCoultre and Universal Genève. By 1978, it took a major step by establishing La Montre Hermès SA in Bienne, Switzerland, marking its formal entry into Swiss watchmaking.
Hermès debuted original collections like the Arceau (1978), designed by Henri d'Origny with asymmetrical lugs inspired by stirrups. Other icons followed: the Cape Cod (1991), known for its “double tour” strap, and the H-Hour (1996), shaped like the brand’s signature “H.”
In recent years, Hermès has gained serious horological credibility. Collaborations with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht of Agenhor and the creation of in-house movements like the H1837 (introduced in 2012) have elevated its standing. The Slim d’Hermès (2015) and Arceau L’Heure de la Lune (2019) have earned acclaim for their poetic complications and design innovation.
