Ikepod - Ikepod Horizon - Titanium (66 Pieces) - Full Set
Vintage and neo-vintage Ikepod watches have garnered more attention from the collector community and for good reason. The Swiss brand is most known for its round "pod" case shapes which resemble UFOs, stand out for being incredibly unique, imaginative and playful. Designer Marc Newson who co-founded the company in 1994 left a distinct brand identity. Analyzing Ikepod, one can easily draw parallels with the Apple Watch; another Newson design which was arguably his most successful and a product that went on to become the top selling wrist watch in history.
One of Newson's most striking creations is the Horizon. According to his site the Horizon "makes reference to the ‘event horizon’ in astrophysics, the edge of a black hole and the moment when gravity becomes infinite, when both time and space disappear. Its reference to the mathematical end of time and space underscores the poetry and fleeting nature of timekeeping itself. The unique dial creates an optical illusion of appearing convex, thereby emphasizing the three-dimensional volume of the case." On offer is a Horizon cased in titanium which is one of just 66 pieces produced in this variation, making it a truly rare timepiece. For anyone looking for an off the beaten path choice, this model is a piece of art for the wrist with a compelling story.
