Jaeger-LeCoultre - Jaeger Lecoultre futurematic
Here is one of the most modern and original Jaeger-LeCoultre watches of the 1950s: the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Futurematic, known as “the world’s most accurate automatic watch.”
This Futurematic, reference E501, is powered by the caliber 497, produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre for a few years. It stands out for its unique design, featuring no visible crown, which is instead located on the case back, ensuring perfect symmetry. The watch also offers practical innovations, such as a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock and a small seconds display at 3 o’clock. Notably, it is one of the first watches to feature a hacking seconds mechanism, allowing for precise time-setting to the second.
Its 37mm case size is remarkably modern for the time, complemented by elegant straight lugs, dauphine hands, and rose gold applied indexes shaped like wheat stalks. The original dial has developed a beautiful patina, adding character and uniqueness to this piece.
Dating back to 1950s, this Futurematic is both a rare and distinctive example of mid-century design and innovation.
