The reference 3531-005 was IWC’s more reasonably sized offering to celebrate the brand’s 125th anniversary. It’s a pretty perfect, idyllic representation of an absolutely timeless wrist watch. The eggshell textured black dial is both more difficult to find and sought after and this one is as good as it gets, exhibiting only faint signs of “shop” or “display” wear.

Case: The 35mm stainless steel case is extremely sharp and in like new old stock condition exhibiting little to no signs of wear. The watch includes its original and desirable screw down fish crown as well.

Dial: The eggshell textured matte black dial is stunning with excellent depth and richness, elegantly featuring the raised Arabic numerals with matching white gold leaf hands. The subsidiary seconds register displays faint concentric circles.

There is a small spot of glue on the underside corner of the crystal to the left of the “9” and a faint surface scuff on the edge of the crystal between 4 and 5. Both are really only visible at certain angles.

Movement: The JLC 891/2 base caliber is beautifully finished, automatic winding, and features hacking seconds. The watch is winding, setting, and running very well at approximately +3-5s per day.

Includes: Original outer and inner boxes, hang tag, document envelop containing guarantee, service manual, and card, and original signed stainless steel buckle. The strap is a black textured calf leather made by Hirsh.
