IWC Schaffhausen - Mark XII Automatic ref. 3241
A classic IWC Mark XII Automatic ref. 3241 dating to its original inaugural year of 1993. Following the military issued Mark XI which was originally launched in 1949 this updated model featured the same utilitarian look and feel but with a few modern amenities for an evolving civilian market. Perfectly sized at 36mm the case is solid and robust with screw down crown and case back. The original matte black tritium dial which looks like a dark grey in certain light is reminiscent of vintage Rolex sports models. The highly legible no bs white Arabic numerals is certainly what you would expect for an ideal pilots watch. The first upgrade to the Mark XII is the automatic movement supplied by Jaeger LeCoultre which in turn features a date display 3 o’clock, a necessity in the early 90s before everyone carried a computer in their pockets. This example is all original boasts a beautiful even patina and appears to have never been polished. It comes complete with box, papers, original strap & original buckle.
