Other - Minerva Pythagore A481 Aviation

Now Available: Minerva Pythagore A481 Aviation featuring the in house cal. 48 manually wound and geometric movement and aviation or pilot’s watch dial and cathedral hands.

Wow, just so much wow. I’m at a loss for how to articulate just how cool this watch is. It wears freaking perfect and has a wide blocky and very toolish presence with the 18mm angular beveled satin brushed lugs on the matching satin finished 34mm case. The textured matte black dial provides a perfect backdrop for the warm patina of the tritium Arabic numerals and cathedral hands, and the elegant Minerva signature at 12. The sub seconds register is slightly glossy in appearance and features concentric circles adding some additional interest to a dial that’s about as clean as it gets.

Flip the watch over and you’re treated to a namesake designed movement with components arranged at 0, 45, or 90 degree angles beautifully finished with anglage, cotes de genve, and the less-common black polished swan’s neck regulator.

The cherry on top of the heavily decorated cake is the very cool, large, arrow signed crown and buckle. So much great watchmaking and details throughout!

Case: The 34 x 41 x 8.7 mm stainless steel case wears incredibly well with its wide spaced 18mm lugs. The entire case is a utilitarian brushed satin finish that is potentially unpolished with the lug chamfers and bevels still very sharp and prominent, keeping with the geometric theme of the watch. There are some typical surface scratches throughout, but the case is overall very honest and clean. The polished case back does highlight some poor prior attempts at opening by a previous owner.

Dial: The matte black dial is free from any defects and absolutely stunning against the warm tritum Arabic numerals and cathedral hands. The sub seconds register feature concentric circles with a slightly glossy finish. The old school Minerva script at 12 (and nothing else) provide such great balance, restraint, and purpose to the watch.

Movement: The cal. 48 movement manually wound movement is running and keeping time well, winding and setting smoothly. The star of the show is the orientiaion of the movement components at 0, 45, and 90 degree angles in keeping with the namesake Pythagoras. Bridges feature anglage and cotes de Geneve finishing, and there's even a black polished swan's neck regulator that wasn't found across most Pythagore models, making this one a little more special.

Includes: Black alligator strap and original signed buckle.
