This watch needs no introduction. Inspired by the Renault tanks that the French jeweler saw in battle on the Western Front during the first World War, the Tank has been the foundation of Cartier since 1917. This example is the Tank released as part of the Must de Cartier line that the French maison first introduced in 1977. The watch paid tribute to the original Tank Louis Cartier and was launched with more than a dozen different dial options, like dark black or red and even a striped pattern, or three shades of gold. This example is the highly coveted Blue lacquer dial (reminiscient of a Lapis Lazuli dial) Must Tank LM size featuring a manual wind movement.

Overall, this piece is in excellent condition. The case exhibits a few scratches typical for a watch of its age but maintains its sharp edges. The hallmarks on the case and caseback are crisp and clear. The original blue lacquer dial is clean, with some gold spots visible due to lacquer fading. These gold spots create a star-like effect on the midnight blue lacquer, resulting in a uniquely beautiful dial. The original hands have aged but is in overall good condition. The blue spinel cabochon is in great shape. The case back features an interesting engraving in Japanese that reads, "30th anniversary, Tokyo Style." This watch was probably given as a gift to employees of a Japanese company to commemorate the milestone. The manual wind movement is currently running at +43 sec/day. This Cartier Must Tank comes with its original Cartier Must Tank blue alligator leather strap along with its original gold plated buckle. This Must Tank comes with its original outer/inner Cartier box, guarantee holder, certificate of guarantee, and papers.
