Patek Philippe - Patek Philippe 3644 “Asprey” White Gold Tropical Blue Ellipse
Description: Parthenons and Pyramids, Angelina Jolie’s lips and Patek Philippe’s Ellipse, icons of architecture implementing the Golden-Ratio, a Grecian number and philosophy expressed through history by iconic design.
1968, six years before the release of the Nautilus, as sport and utility tool watches changed market topography, while the tectonomy of quartz powered timepieces neared eruption, Patek Philippe sought to cement their already bedrock reputation as masters of chronometry through effortless, straightforward, unisex elegance. Everything on and about the 3644 Ellipse is gold – the solid caseback, its baton style hands and markers, the center polished pinion, and, yes, even the blue dial.
Blue-Gold is made when cobalt and 24k yellow gold are vaporized in a chamber. The ensuing cloud is gathered and condensed onto an 18k gold dial, coating the precious metal in a fine and even layer of metallic made azure.
Thierry Stern, Patek CEO says of the Ellipse, “No gimmicks, just purity and beauty expressed through simple design.” Patek Philippe, where gold is not always gold, and where designs made to be simple are not always simply made.
