Patek Philippe - Patek Philippe Cabriolet ref 5099
The Patek Philippe Gondolo Cabriolet Ref. 5099, launched in 1999, stands out for its unique 18K white and rose gold case. Inspired by a 1920s design originally produced in just three examples, one of which now resides in the Patek Philippe Museum, this model features a unique cover that opens with the press of two buttons to reveal the dial. This complex case, made of 52 components, took Patek Philippe technicians three years to perfect. The challenge was to harmonize the gold tones on the upper part of the watch and refine the mechanism that allows the cover to open with the press of two buttons. The watch reflects Patek’s craftsmanship, blending Art Deco style with innovative mechanics.
The present Gondolo Cabriolet Ref. 5099 is in near-new condition, showing almost no signs of wear. The case and caseback appear pristine, suggesting it has been worn very infrequently since its purchase in 2003. The dial remains flawless, with no signs of aging or opening. The unique cover mechanism functions smoothly, and the movement, Caliber 215, operates perfectly without any issues. This watch stands as an exceptional example of Patek Philippe’s craftsmanship and innovation, preserved in excellent condition.
