Patek Philippe - Patek Philippe Calatrava 438 w/ Patek Service - Extremely Rare

The Patek Philippe Calatrava stands as a testament to one of the most esteemed watch designs from the 20th century, with its origins dating back to the 1930s, commencing with the iconic ref. 96. Launched in 1935, the ref. 438 was a successor to the ref. 96 and notably featured an early water resistant case with screw back and "boy-size" dimensions at 28mm. It should also be noted that the case of this model did not feature the typical "snap bezel" to reduce the possibility of dust entering the movement. Today, Patek scholars celebrate this reference for its significant developments in the Calatrava family and finding one regardless of condition is special in and of itself due to its true rarity.

This example, circa 1940s is housed in yellow gold and remains in fantastic overall vintage condition. The case is strong with thick and even lugs and the hallmarks are still deep and crisp. Most notably, the dial appears in stunning and untouched condition which is remarkable for an example of this age. This piece has been to Patek for service and still retains its Patek service sticker, buckle and replacement crown so it is ready to enjoy for decades to come.
