Tudor - *RARE* 1959 Tudor Oysterdate 34 | Two-Tone Honeycomb Dial | Ref. 7944
Among the many details that make this 1950s Tudor special, it’s the dial that quietly steals the show. Finished in a rare black glossy honeycomb texture, also known as waffle, it reflects the artisanal craftsmanship of an era when such intricate patterns were hand-turned on traditional machines. Difficult to manufacture and nearly impossible to refinish, these dials are treasured for their originality and charm, offering a quiet assurance of authenticity that collectors deeply value.
This particular example features elegant gilt script, two-tone dial, dauphine hands, and a roulette date wheel with alternating red and black numerals, small but delightful details that elevate its character. The stainless steel Oyster case remains in great condition, retaining crisp edges and only soft signs of natural wear. Its original screw-down crown with the Brevet cross is worth noticing, a subtle but meaningful nod to its untouched condition.
Fresh from a full service, the movement runs beautifully. This is not just a rare Tudor, it’s a piece with soul, preserved with care, and ready to be well enjoyed.
