Piaget - Rare Erni d’Or | Onyx Dial | 18k Gold | Limited Edition

A man whose hands seemed to channel the divine, Hans Erni (or ‘The Picasso of Switzerland’ as he was also called) sculpted time into miniature art.

The dial was a revelation. Pure black onyx, a gold dove frozen mid-soar, intricate curves juxtaposed against an hourglass. The dove, a motif Erni used throughout his career, is an emblem of peace, of possibility, of the dance between time and transcendence.

Hans Erni’s artistry was larger than life, even when distilled into the smallest of canvases. It was this talent that Yves Piaget sought to harness in the late 1970s. The result was alchemy; a fusion of Piaget’s unparalleled goldsmithing and Erni’s visionary imagination.

Just like Piaget’s Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali collaborations, which are today amongst the most investable in the watch world, Erni’s creations were produced in extremely limited numbers. Each was hand-engraved, a singular expression of Erni’s genius.

This piece, procured from an illustrious vintage Piaget collection in the Middle East, is so immaculately preserved that it seems that it was not worn but worshipped. Super rare and one of the most investable pieces in vintage Piaget at the moment. Find me another!
