Rare and elegant Patek Philippe reference 570 in 18kt white gold. Introduced in 1938, the ref. 570 was conceived as a larger alternative to the original Patek Calatrava, the ref. 96, which debuted in 1932. While the ref. 96 gained popularity in its time, its modest 31 mm case size didn’t appeal to everyone. In response, Patek Philippe introduced the ref. 570 with an expanded 35.5 mm case, quite substantial for a dress watch of the era. Faithful to the Bauhaus principle that form follows function, the Calatrava line and especially the ref. 570 embodies refined minimalism. Its gracefully curved, slender lugs and polished flat bezel capture a timeless sense of understated sophistication. The opaline dial is clean, featuring applied minute markers and faceted hour indexes in 18k white gold, complemented by elegant dauphine hands. Produced from 1938 until 1972, the ref. 570 was offered in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum, and even stainless steel. While the majority were crafted in yellow gold, this particular piece is a rare and coveted version in 18k white gold.
