Amtlich

Means Officially in German. This 35mm Rolex Dress watch was manufactured in 1958 and carries the reference 8952 which was produced for quite a while. The iconic bezel design with the ridges and quarter hour indexes is not very rare to see. What is rare to find is this watch with a Chronometer certification mentioned in German language. "Amtlich Gepruefter Chronometer' means Officially Certified Chronometer meaning this watch was made for the German market or, it was done on special request.

Another fact that makes this watch rare is the condition. The 18K yellow gold case is sharp and crisp featuring straight and even lugs with beautiful finishing. The bezel ridges are crisp and sharp telling us two things, the watch was not worn much and was probably, if at all polished very lightly. The original crown is present and so are the case numbers engraved on the case back.

The off-white dial is in exceptional condition, hardly showing any wear to the naked eye even after 67 years. The dagger hands are matching and don't show any corrosion.

Overall a very attractive watch that doesn't scream mainstream Rolex. A beautifully preserved example with the little extra rarity, very interesting also for German collectors.

Case: Excellent 18K case that is only showing light wear from age. The very fine fluting on the bezel is very prominent is free of any major wear. Lugs are well defined and straight, the hallmark is fully present and does not show any fading. The crown is original, case numbers on the back are fully there.
Bracelet/Strap: Original Rolex Croco strap with gold plated Rolex pin buckle.
Dial: Excellent off-white dial not showing any wear to the naked eye. Very rare print 'Amtlich Gepruefter Chronometer' meaning Officially Certified Chronometer letting us assume that was made for the German market, possibly a special request.
