Rolex - Rolex Air King 5500 w/ Arabic Numerals - Very Rare - Box & Papers

The Rolex Air King was first introduced in 1945 as a tool for pilots and today remains one of the longest running production models. The reference 5500 was released over a decade later in 1957 with several dial configurations and this particular full Arabic numeral dial is without a doubt a very rare and beautiful iteration giving the piece a military type theme. At 34mm, the Air King is often overlooked for larger case sizes but as the market evolves, its fair to say the collector community is becoming more open to slimmer designs in favor of the less bulky.

On offer is a beautiful box and papers example with this unusual dial variant. This piece remains in great vintage condition with a nice dial and case. The icing on the cake is having the original warranty papers, serialized tag, service papers from Watches of Switzerland as well as a Rolex gator strap with signed buckle. For any collector this makes for an impressive set and we're thrilled to offer this interesting conversation piece in the shop!
