Rolex - Rolex Bubbleback Oyster Perpetual Ref. 5011
A pretty and fun little Rolex BubbleBack ref. 5011 all the way back from 1948 in steel and 14k rose gold, most likely for the US market
Measuring 32mm across I find these wear a lot bigger than that might suggest, "BubbleBack" itself really does have quite a bit of presence on the wrist!
The watch is paired on beautiful Epsom leather Hodinkee limited edition strap.
The dial, like 99% of Bubble Back's has been restored, though it has been done very sympathetically and looks fantastic either way with this lovely grey sunburst finish that reflects so crazily different in the light.
Accompanied by a blued steel hand second hand to compliment it - it's a real nice touch, especially when appreciated properly in warm sunlight.
Hands down these are some of my favourite watches at the moment and I can't enough of them. Remember, this is where wristwatch collecting began back in the mid 80's!
