Rolex - Rolex Cellini Silver Dial Ref. 4014, c.a. 1973
Cellini
We have been hearing this word more and more often in the past 24 months. The trend for luxury and especially affordable luxury today has helped forgotten models to come back to the surface. The price point for most of these Cellini models is very attractive and in many instances, such as in the case of the watch offered here, matches the cost of a stainless steel Datejust. But we believe this is going to change.
These Cellinis were exclusively made in precious metal and with mechanical movements. They come in an array of configurations and mostly reflect subtle elegance. The 70s is the golden era of Cellinis and no surprise, the size of these watches reflects this era
This beautiful white gold Cellini dates back to 1973, an era when the King Midas was still in production with its angular and square and rectangular shape. The case design surely derived from the Midas but became iconic itself.
The case shows off a brushed finish that lets you admire the sharp edges all around the case and back. The case almost looks like a frame, a frame to a minimalistic but distinct dial that also shows a horizontal brushed finish. The hour indexes are batons, batons that have a black stripe on the top that firstly has a more pronounced feel and secondly allows easier readability. The hands are matching with black paint on them.
To give this very classy watch a more casual and fresh feel we have matched it with a Denim color Croco strap by Camille Fournet in Paris, the brand we retail when it comes to fine watch straps. Please feel free to reach out to our team in case you prefer to buy this watch with a different strap.
It is not exaggerated if we say that this beautiful Cellini bears a great Value for money. A great Cellini that is timeless, elegant and sophisticated.
