Rolex - Rolex Date Ref. 1530, 1975

Introducing the Rolex reference 1530, one of the rarest serial production models from the 1970s.

At first glance, it resembles the Oysterquartz 17000, but it carries a mechanical movement.

Developed during the Quartz crisis, this reference features the angular case and integrated bracelet that would later define the Oysterquartz, introduced in 1977.

With only about 1,500 units produced, the 1530 holds a unique place in Rolex history.

This 1975 example showcases a beautifully aged taupe dial with matching pumpkin-colored lume dots and hands. The 1530 is a highly sought-after collector's piece, marking an important transition in Rolex’s evolution.

Case: Excellent case that has just returned from polishing. The edges are sharp and well defined, case numbers fully intact
Dial: Very nice Silver dial which has aged to champagne hue. The lume dots on the dial and hands seem to have been relumed a long time ago and have taken a nice brownish color on. There are two tool marks on the SCOC caption.
Size: 36mm
Movement: Automatic
Bracelet: Excellent Oysterquartz bracelet showing light stretch from age. The clasp code is P2, speaking for a replacement in 1991.
